Welcome a New Cousin

Two days ago Rachel’s brother, Jed, and his wife Sara had their second girl, Beatrice Clare. She is healthy and labor went well. My mom is with them in San Francisco helping take care of her older sister Esther. This is Win’s 9th cousin. Two more are on their way before the end of summer. To see more pictures click here.

Someone Grew 3/4 Inch in 4 Weeks

As Win was finishing his bath I laid out his olive green bath towel on the bathroom counter like I always do. Then I stepped out of the bathroom to grab a new diaper. 7 seconds later, when I returned to the bathroom, the towel was gone. Surprised, I glanced around the bathroom and found the towel.
At Win’s last doctor’s visit they said that he had grown 3/4th inch in less than a month. That explains to Jared and I why things that seemed safely out of reach are all of the sudden in danger of the curiosity of a 1 year old. We often catch him doing things that we thought he wasn’t tall enough to do. That also explains why Win eats so much. I’m not exaggerating one bit when I say that Win eats more than me–and I’m pregnant!

Ole Blue Eyes

Nearly every time that Win and I are in public he gets comments on his big blue eyes. I wonder why? (I made no color adjustments to this photo)

More about The Cabin

Well, a little digging on Google maps led us to some cool satellite photos of the beloved cabin. From the top you see: Diamond Lake (south of Warsaw, Indiana); the point on which The Cabin sits; and a close-up.

Relaxing and Reading at The Cabin

Jared, Win and I spend the last several days in Indiana kicking back at The Cabin. My parents now own a little lake cabin on a beautiful, peaceful lake about 2 1/2 hours south of Holland. It has been in our family for about 35 years. I’ve been going there my entire life, Jared and I honeymooned there, now we like to make several visits a year. It is the perfect place to do very little, read, nap and get a sunburn if the season is right. Winfield decided to take a break from his day to read a little.

Beach Babe

Winfield has been doing some weightlifting lately. He is trying to get toned up for beach season. Currently he can bench 3 pounds.
