About 2 months before Win’s birthday…

…this company sent us a catalog. They knew what they were doing. Win loved to pour over each page. He and Harriet loved to discuss which theme was their favorite. He finally settled on one that was his ultimate favorite and he would always go back to it. He passed over Cars, Mario, bugs, monster trucks, Thomas the Train, and Spiderman to finally land on a party that was themed on a kitten wearing a crown. It gave me such giggles that I went ahead and ordered the plates. We enjoyed his birthday cow cake on those plates. There were a couple left and I’d never gotten a picture of Win with his 4-year-old birthday plates. Here they are.

Harriet wanted a picture with the Kitty plates too. Here’s her first attempt.

So I told her to tip it up…hmmm?

“Nope, hold it straight up and down, Harriet.”

“Show me a little of your face.”

Win’s been reading and writing a lot lately. I had some popsicle sticks and 3×5 inch cards, so the kids have been making signs galore. I thought that this one was pretty cute. It says, “Haryet, mom, bab, Babee” (Harriet, Mom, Dad, Baby)

…of names for our little baby GIRL! A couple of weeks ago Winfield told me, “Harriet and I agreed that if it’s a girl his name will be Bambi.” We had our ultrasound this morning. We’re having a little girl in September. So far “Bambi” seems to be the only suggestion. I guess that Jared and I have 19 more weeks to think of something else. Tinkerbell? Miss Piggy? Pippi Long Stocking?

We’d really like to have more kids. Since pregnancy takes so long, and I tend to get kinda fat, we decided to go another route. Since we like Harriet so much we plan on growing another one. Do you have to wait until after Mother’s Day to plant these? Or will she survive a mild frost? How much fertilizer will she need? Anyone have any gardening tips?

The other day I went to get Winfield from a nap. He hadn’t been sleeping. When I came into his room he explained to me what he’d been doing. He was meticulously picking little balls from his favorite sleeping blanket and he was putting them into the lid of his water bottle. He explained to me that he was collecting “power” and that his water bottle was a machine that turned the lint into power for the outlets. This old friend of a blanket seems to have an endless supply of little balls that can be removed. Harriet wanted to join the effort.

Happy Easter!

Welcome to our house on Easter. The Dean blood comes out in our family for Easter. Growing up we always had a big Easter egg hunt in our house. Eggs were color coded for each kid and filled with quarters, cereal and stickers. We did this Easter egg hunt for years, I’m talking until 2008, when I was 28. That’s when the Easter bunny (my Dad) started wintering in Arizona and no one got together for Easter anymore. Now the kids are old enough. Jared and I took up the mantle and hid a bunch of eggs around the house. The kids were elated with the game.

The kids waited upstairs in Win’s room while we hid the eggs. Here’s Jared explaining the game to them.

Both Harriet and Win decided to put on sunglasses the “help” them find missing eggs. They had a blast going through their loot.

Harriet just held her sippy cup up to me and said, “This is a pretend mean mailman. He’s a UPS man but he’s tellin’ me that he’s a FedEx man and he’s lying. And he keeps biting my fingers. He’s a mean mailman.” Where DO they come up with these things?!?!
